FROM AN OLD, ABANDONED, DIRT FLOOR POLE BARN TO A DAIRY MILK HOUSE & GOAT PALACE

As a PK (preacher's kid)/army brat/army wife, our move here to Virginia marked my 28th move! This move, however, was unlike and far more complicated than any of the previous moves. We have hauled Uhaul trailers cross country with 4 kids (human) and 2 dogs in tow, but try a trailer full of livestock and chickens and barn cats! Honestly, that doesn't even portray how complicated it was. We had to relocate our farm animals off of our last farm before closing on that property. Much attention, cooperation and coordination took place in order to relocate them all to the new property prior to closing on this home. Add to that, a horrible, cold, January rain storm for the big moving day, along with the movers getting injured and unable to complete their job, and you're starting to get the picture! After all we gave up, leaving our dream home in Maryland, and how physically demanding this relocation was, made actualizing our farm goals into our reality all the more sweet! Here are some photos of the decrepit pole barn in the beginning and some of the transformation that led up to our chic & sophisticated upgrade.
